Derbyshire Dales residents need photo ID to vote at elections in May
We have received the following news release from DDDC:
"For the first time, residents in the Derbyshire Dales will need to show photographic ID to vote at this year's local elections on Thursday 4 May.
The new requirement to show photo ID at a polling station was introduced by the UK Government's Elections Act, which was passed last year and comes into effect for the first time next month.

Certificate of Merit Award 2023 - Kay Fairest
The Mayor of Bakewell, Cllr Paul Miller, presented Kay Fairest with her Certificate of Merit Award at the Annual Town Meeting held on 23rd March 2023.
The citation on the certificate reads "For her work as a wildlife protection ambassador, community work, and for her photography skills, Kay makes Bakewell a much better place."

Certificate of Merit Award 2023 - Dot Bushen
Mayor of Bakewell, Cllr Paul Miller, presenting Dot Bushen with her Certificate of Merit Award.
Dot has worked tirelessly over the years as the main organiser of the Christmas Tree Festival, an event that unites the town with a wide variety of organisations participating. Without her hard work coordinating everything it wouldn't be the festival it is.

Hedgehogs R Us Conservation Project
We are pleased to publicise the Hedgehogs R Us Conservation Project.
There are lots of small things that you can do to help hedgehogs in your garden, such as creating a wild area in your garden, making garden ponds safe, or providing a gap in fencing to allow safe access. There are lots more ideas here.

Flood Resilience in Bakewell
The Environment Agency, in partnership with Derbyshire County Council, are hosting a community engagement event on flood risk and property flood resilience in Bakewell.
