VE DAY 80th Anniversary
A shared moment of Celebration
As part of Bakewell's Celebration and Commemoration of VE Day
LET'S TURN BAKEWELL RED, WHITE & BLUE!!
From the 5th – 11th May there will be a special VE80 trail in Bakewell.
This will include the Poppy Flag (a large flag made locally from hundreds of knitted poppies), a poppy trail commemorating all the local soldiers lost during the Second World War, and the flag from the 'Falklands Flag Ship'.
Please join in and dress up your shop/business window to commemorate the VE Day 80th Anniversary and please spread the word to any not on this group!!
VE Day will be marked with the following:
Thursday 8th May
9.00am - War Memorial, Bath Gardens. School Children placing crosses, Flag
Raising and VE Day Proclamation
6.30pm 'Together we Chime - let the Nations Bells ring loud' Church bell ringing
7.00pm-9.30pm - Bakewell Town Hall Indoor Street Party with Food and Quiz
